Established in 2007 by ex ad’ agency CEO turned contemporary furniture designer and maker Jonathan Kiff, the 360° Trust is a self funding, not for profit social enterprise set up to create high value, skilled employment in areas of deprivation and need through the nurture of SME’s involved in the applied and fine arts and creative industries.
Housed in the historic Old Sawmills, a grade ll listed former watermill in Filleigh near South Molton, which having been unused for over 10 years we have slowly brought back to life we provide affordable workspace, studios and workshops to entrepreneurs ambitious to build sustainable creative practices.
Our residents benefit from access to business advice and mentoring open access, education and exhibition space in a mutually supportive creative working environment that combines complimentary skills and experience with economies of scale to aid personal success, whilst driving mutually profitable engagement with the local community through employment, a visitor destination and educational and cultural events.
In June 2009 the Trust opened thegallery@360°, a unique exhibition space that has through select and deliberately infrequent shows, gained an enviable reputation amongst contemporary art lovers across the South West and beyond for showcasing work of only the highest quality and originality and for featuring some of the very best established and emerging contemporary art talent in the UK today.
We are proud that through the efforts and investment of the Trust and its resident members past and present the Old Sawmills has again become a centre off interest in the local community, a visitor destination that has attracted 10’s of thousands of art enthusiasts from all over the UK to the area, aided and facilitated the creation of 16 new jobs and creative businesses, providing multiple training opportunities and given over 60 artists, many for the very first time, the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.
Our residents have included: Painters, printmakers, furniture designers & makers, graphic designers, film & TV special effects designer makers, fine art restorers, ceramicists, sculptors, photographers, digital artists and Illustrators plus mare using our ‘drop in’ studio that we reserve for short term hire.
The 360° Trust’s goal is to build a dynamic creative environment and renown visitor destination, a centre of excellence, that attracts and supports the very best talent in the contemporary arts and creative industries whilst fostering a culture of responsibility and concern for the social and economic welfare of the local community .
